Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. Corcoran has participated in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Since February of 2020, she has made 53 deals for the show, the largest one being $350,000 to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's career. The family depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially after he had been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. She later discovered that she was dyslexic. She went to a local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year of high school.
